When we merge the update sets, system will automatically take the sequence that on what fashion update set will be committed in another ServiceNow instance.

When we merge the update set, then the merged update set contain all the updates of the update set which we have merged with automatic sequencing and all the updates which were listed in the update set which we have merged. For e.g., Update set A and Update Set B merged into Update Set C, then update set C will contain all the updates of A and B and after merging update of A and updates of B will not be there in Update A and Update B.

When we merge In Progress update or completed update set the state of merged update set always set to in progress.

Merge Complete State Update Set:

Now let see if we merge two updates set which are in complete state, then the merged update set will contain below:

1. When we merged two updates set which has same changes updates for example change label to XYZ in first update set and then again change it to ABC in second update set, then merged update set will contain the latest version or entry where label has changed ABC.

2. The update set we merged; the state of those update set will automatically change to ignore.

Merge In Progress State Update Set:

Now let see if we merge two updates set which are in In Progress state, then the merged update set will contain below:

1. We have to manually change the state to ignore of the update set which has to be merged.

2. It contain all the updates of the update set which we merged however when we merge completed update set then it only contains the latest entry when it is of same functionality.
